Welcome to the Mini Aquarium
The Petty Harbour Mini Aquarium is a seasonal catch-and-release public aquarium located just 15 minutes outside the city of St. John's Newfoundland.
We engage people of all ages through hands-on touch tank exhibits, live animal displays, one-on-one science interpretation, daily programs, school and group visits, and so much more!
Get your hands wet
Come to the Petty Harbour Mini Aquarium, located in the picturesque community of Petty Harbour-Maddox Cove, to touch and feel all the amazing creatures that live just below the surface. Perfect for the young and young at heart - not even squidding!
Fostering curiosity of marine life
Get a personal hands-on learning experience with passionate staff. Touch tanks and thirty beautiful exhibits show off the creatures in an 800-square foot facility within a retired fish processing plant.
The modest building comes to life with the amazing creatures we display and the stories they tell of sustainability and coastal culture.
Catch and Release
The best part about the Mini Aquarium is that we release the animals back to the ocean where they were collected. Bid a fond farewell to our marine friends as you help us return the animals to the sea. It's the perfect ending to another season of aquatic awesomeness!
Watch the 2014 release video below and be sure to participate in this year's event!
The mission of the Petty Harbour Mini Aquarium is to foster curiosity about local marine life and inspire action toward personal and global sustainability through display, interpretation and direct action.
